Job Title: Employee and Labor Relations Manager

Illinois Action for Children is seeking a highly skilled Employee and Labor Relations Manager to join our team. As a key member of our Human Resources department, you will be responsible for all aspects of employee and labor relations for the agency.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Counsel employees and managers on various issues, including peer/manager work relationships, communication problems, personal problems, employee morale, work problems, and concerns.
  • Oversee employee rewards and recognition programs and educate management on how to utilize the program.
  • Participate in the preparation, analysis, and presentation of related reports as needed.
  • Assist the Director of Human Resources and legal counsel in administering and interpreting collective bargaining agreements, conducting incident investigations, evaluating evidence and facts.
  • Work with legal counsel as appropriate and participate in negotiations and grievance settlement with Collective Bargaining Unit.
  • Handle formal grievances by meeting with employees and the union representative, writing up responses.
  • Provide training and counsel to employees and management regarding performance management, performance improvement plans, and interpretations of employment law and internal policies and procedures.
  • Identify training and development needs for management staff in this area and assist in the development of new employee engagement programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Research and evaluate appraisal systems, making recommendations and implementing revised systems that enhance the performance of the organization.
  • Coordinate annual review process and assure completion of reviews.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree required, and 5-7 years of human resources experience in employee relations, human resources management, or HR generalist role.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in interpreting and administering collective bargaining agreements.
  • Labor relations experience a plus.
