ROLE DESCRIPTION:

This role entails providing comprehensive legislative analysis to the Organizational and Management Policy Directorate (O&MPD) within the Office of the Director of Administration and Management (ODA&M). The responsibilities encompass a broad spectrum of legislative analysis and support services, including the monitoring of Congressional reporting obligations, tracking proposed legislation, and identifying relevant provisions in legislation that may influence OSD and ODA&M equity matters. Regular updates will be prepared for ODA&M leadership regarding legislative developments. Proficiency in SharePoint content management is essential. Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate congressional reporting obligations within ODA&M and conduct bill research, including cross-referencing previous Defense authorization and appropriations bills.
  • Perform legislative research on bills and resolutions, analyzing the House, Senate, and conference versions of the NDAA to pinpoint sections affecting ODA&M equities, providing comparative analysis against the DoD submitted bill language.
  • Draft and deliver weekly updates to O&MPD government personnel and leadership on congressional activities to enhance situational awareness.
  • Prepare correspondence documents for ODA&M/O&MPD in accordance with official DoD correspondence guidelines.
  • Assist in managing content and site administration of the ODA&M Legislative SharePoint Portal, including data management, workflow processes, and site access permissions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in a relevant field, accompanied by a minimum of 5 years of pertinent professional experience.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Possession of an Active Secret Security Clearance.
  • Experience within the DoD and specifically OSD.
  • Familiarity with reviewing DoD-related legislation, such as the National Defense Authorization Act or Defense Appropriations Act.
  • Experience in supporting and navigating existing DoD legislative processes.
  • Strong writing capabilities are essential.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in small teams within a high-pressure environment under strict deadlines.
  • Availability to provide onsite support during core business hours.
