Role Overview

The Accounting Manager will be instrumental in maintaining the accuracy of our financial records and in creating scalable and sustainable processes as our organization expands. This role offers exposure to various aspects of our operations, including charge card management, payment processing, cash flow movements, account reconciliations, and variance analysis. You will collaborate across departments in a detail-oriented setting where innovative problem-solving is highly valued. The Accounting Manager is expected to handle multiple priorities simultaneously while ensuring quality, accuracy, and completeness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the complete accounting processes, reconciliations, policies, and activities related to Brex's primary offerings, including assessing the appropriateness of estimates and assumptions used in rewards, network fees, and card receivables.
  • Facilitate timely financial closes through the preparation and review of journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analyses, while coordinating with the Financial Planning & Analysis team.
  • Identify and implement process enhancements through collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Develop sustainable, repeatable, and scalable processes, including the review and updating of process documentation.
  • Act as the subject matter expert in relevant areas and collaborate with the technical accounting team to research, resolve, and communicate complex issues.
  • Serve as a key liaison between accounting, finance, and the broader business to support significant projects, initiatives, transactions, and strategic recommendations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • 4-6 years of experience in public accounting and/or private industry.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and handle challenging situations professionally.
  • Innovative mindset with a knack for providing creative solutions.
  • Strong sense of ownership regarding responsibilities and a commitment to professional growth.
  • Experience in implementing and refining business processes and systems.
  • Highly motivated self-starter with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in managing deadlines effectively.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Effective verbal, listening, and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
  • Availability to work in-office two days a week.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Licensed CPA.
  • Experience in both public accounting and private industry.
  • Relevant experience in credit card and payment processing.
  • Familiarity with NetSuite, Looker, or other data visualization and automation tools.

Compensation

The expected salary range for this position is $124,752 - $155,940, with the starting base pay dependent on various factors, including location, skills, experience, market demand, and internal pay parity. Additional forms of compensation may be included as part of the total compensation package.
