Position Overview
The Pet Care Center Director is accountable for embodying Petco's mission of fostering a "Healthier Pets. Happier People. Better World." This role is pivotal in cultivating a high-performing team that consistently achieves sales growth while prioritizing the welfare and proper care of all animals. The Director oversees a team of managers and partners, ensuring excellence in all operational aspects of the Pet Care Center.
Key Responsibilities
Team Development- Recruit and cultivate a team that reflects the Petco ethos by delivering outstanding service and fostering customer loyalty.
- Attract, hire, and retain a diverse array of top talent.
- Provide training, coaching, and development for leaders and team members across all functions necessary for efficient store operations.
- Foster a professional environment that inspires growth and engagement among team members.
- Lead initiatives that promote a culture of teamwork, inclusion, and collaboration.
- Ensure prompt and courteous service to all customers.
- Oversee performance management for all team members within the Pet Care Center.
- Encourage a mindset focused on continuous improvement and growth.
- Achieve or surpass targets related to overall Pet Care Center sales, profitability, and operational excellence.
- Optimize labor hours and payroll to enhance productivity.
- Regularly analyze financial and operational reports.
- Identify areas of underperformance and devise strategies for improvement and growth.
- Promote the Pet Care Center and manage the planning of community engagement events.
- Ensure the health, appearance, and welfare of all animals are maintained to the highest standards.
- Oversee proper pricing, display, and stocking of merchandise in accordance with inventory levels.
- Timely completion and submission of accounting, inventory management, and payroll documentation.
- Maintain the Pet Care Center's professional image and cleanliness in line with operational standards.
- Safeguard Petco's assets and minimize loss.
- Ensure compliance with opening and closing procedures.
- Inspiring Leadership: Provide proactive leadership to create a positive business environment that motivates teams.
- Safety Promotion: Ensure compliance with Petco policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Collaborative Culture: Encourage team members to propose ideas that enhance efficiency and customer engagement.
- Talent Development: Build a strong talent pipeline with team members capable of executing the company's objectives.
- Engagement: Represent Petco's brand through strong culture and effective leadership.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
- A minimum of three years of management experience is required; prior retail management experience is preferred.
- Proficiency in basic business and financial analysis, along with problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and computer skills are essential.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
Supervisory Role
The Pet Care Center Director directly supervises a team of leaders and is responsible for all team members within the Pet Care Center.
Work Environment
The majority of job responsibilities are performed indoors, with occasional tasks requiring brief departures from the Pet Care Center.
