Position Overview:

The Lead Financial Strategist is responsible for constructing intricate financial models that facilitate informed decision-making regarding multifaceted business challenges. This includes assessments related to innovative product development, portfolio evaluations, profitability analyses of emerging opportunities, capital assessments, revenue forecasting, and profit margin evaluations.

The role emphasizes the importance of forecasting and scrutinizing current performance through the establishment and oversight of product metrics, alongside conducting ongoing economic evaluations of products, marketing initiatives, pricing strategies, and business ventures.

Key responsibilities include preparing and interpreting monthly financial statements and reports to generate forecasts that reflect business, industry, and economic conditions, aiding in sound business decisions. The Lead Financial Strategist will analyze and report on the financial implications of existing and proposed programs, fulfilling complex analytical requirements.

This position also involves driving necessary changes to enhance the organization's financial performance and supporting responses to intricate Request for Proposals (RFPs) as needed. The strategist will develop analytical tools to streamline financial modeling processes and provide mentorship and feedback to fellow analysts within the team.

Core Responsibilities:


1. Construct sophisticated financial models to support management's decision-making processes concerning new product initiatives, portfolio assessments, profitability evaluations, capital investments, revenue forecasting, and regulatory impact analyses.

2. Define financial prerequisites for new products and features, while analyzing and summarizing the division's financial statements, expenditures, and records.

3. Formulate recommendations that assist management in making informed decisions.

4. Conduct moderate to complex financial analyses, including research and the design and implementation of applications and tools to meet reporting and analytical needs.

5. Execute various scenarios through financial models and interpret their implications. Measure financial outcomes against established budgets and forecasts.

6. Collaborate in the development of long-term financial strategies and continuously assess operational financial results. Work closely with other departments to ensure strategic objectives are met.

7. Participate in the annual budgeting process and analyze actual versus budgeted figures regularly. Create and maintain comprehensive budgeting templates.

8. With minimal oversight, evaluate analytical tools and data formats, researching and developing new programs that enhance the efficiency of financial modeling and allow for deeper analysis and recommendations.

9. When standard tools fall short, utilize statistical analysis software (SAS) to model and analyze data as required.

10. Review monthly financial performance results for assigned business units, identifying key trends, variances, and areas for improvement. Collaborate with other departments for account reconciliation.

11. Provide insights and assistance to management regarding expenditures, purchases, and operational costs.

12. As needed, respond to complex RFP inquiries related to new business and client renewals across various programs.

13. Ensure data integrity and accuracy in responses to RFP inquiries.

14. Conduct ad hoc analyses and forecasts for internal management and external clients.

15. Offer guidance and training to junior analysts on financial modeling, data extraction methods, budgeting considerations, and best practices for data management.

16. Provide explanations to the team regarding the interconnectedness of data and how assumptions on one initiative may influence others during analyses.

Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 1 year of experience in an analytical role within finance, accounting, business management, quantitative analysis, or economics; or a High School Diploma/GED with at least 4 years of relevant experience.

2. Proficiency in financial analysis, modeling, profitability assessments, and auditing techniques.

3. Strong time management skills, including the ability to prioritize and organize multiple projects with competing deadlines.

4. Experience in data analysis and reporting to identify trends, issues, or exceptions that drive performance improvement.


Technical Skills:
1. Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, including formatting and slide customization.
2. Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, including document formatting and table adjustments.
3. Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data manipulation and chart creation.
4. Willingness to travel up to 10% for business purposes.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree or MBA.
