Role Summary:

As a Functional Safety Architect, you will join the AMD Functional Safety team, playing a crucial role in certifying pivotal AMD products aimed at high-growth sectors such as digital cockpit technology and autonomous vehicles. Your responsibilities will include conducting safety analyses and providing technical leadership for product line safety functions and their clientele. This role necessitates close collaboration with various functional leaders within AMD.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define product features and capabilities, focusing on architecture and micro-architecture safety requirements, while guiding technical specifications for SoC and IP blocks to fulfill those needs.
  • Collaborate with the FuSa Fellow to align the safety architects within the team.
  • Understand the complete system requirements for Functional Safety, encompassing hardware, firmware, BIOS, and software, ensuring alignment to optimize safety features.
  • Independently execute Functional Safety tasks and analyses.
  • Explore safety concepts and evaluate their scope.
  • Conduct high-level safety analyses (FMEA/FMEDA/FTA, DFA, FFI) utilizing safety analysis tools at both architectural and microarchitectural levels.
  • Develop verification plans, including safety verification strategies to assess safety metrics pre- and post-silicon.
  • Establish and maintain the Safety Manual.
  • Assess product line compliance with ISO/IEC metrics.
  • Facilitate the reuse of safety cases and designs through guidance, metrics reporting, and timely escalation to achieve leadership standards in safety and cost.
  • Identify and address critical system safety issues with clients, representing the business in relevant forums.
  • Engage in evaluations of proposed technical solutions to determine the feasibility of developing and calibrating software solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong foundation in Systems & SoC architecture, with expertise in areas such as CPU or GPU, memory subsystems, fabrics, CPU/GPU coherency, multimedia, I/O subsystems, clocks, resets, virtualization, and security.
  • Experience in software development is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with ISO 26262 and IEC 61508 standards is preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of system safety and monitoring methodologies is a plus.
  • Exceptional communication, management, and presentation skills.
  • Adept at collaborating with leading thinkers and senior architects, possessing strong interpersonal skills to work across diverse teams.

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Mechatronic Engineering, or a related field.
