The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) is seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Architect to engage in advanced computer systems analysis within the Information Technology Services (ITS) Division.
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Systems Architect, you will:
- Identify and prioritize business requirements, delivering tailored solutions and technologies to support strategic initiatives.
- Provide expert guidance in business architecture and systems processing, leading the development of business architecture models and initiatives.
- Oversee the creation, analysis, and refinement of design protocols, program codes, testing procedures, and quality benchmarks.
- Direct systems design projects, establish comprehensive architectures, and conduct research to formulate system recommendations and implementation strategies.
- Formulate program budgets and propose cost-saving measures in technology and business strategies, assessing current and prospective systems for cost-effectiveness and added value.
- Offer analytical insights and consultation to agency leadership on significant technology matters and investigate emerging trends.
- Evaluate and define agency disaster recovery responsibilities and procedures.
Essential Skills
Demonstrated proficiency in:
- Analyzing and gathering business requirements, translating them into business architecture capabilities, and aligning them with technical architecture.
- Coordinating workgroups to define architectures and manage projects across various agency systems and state entities.
- Planning and scheduling project transitions, development, and implementation phases.
Work with minimal supervision, exercising significant initiative and independent judgment. Represent the ITS Division in meetings, workgroups, conferences, and committees as necessary.
Core Functions
Regular attendance and adherence to all HR policies of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services are essential. As a Senior Systems Architect, you will:
- Define system requirements and develop roadmaps to fulfill business needs.
- Implement strategic planning, goals, and objectives related to agency systems architecture.
- Oversee studies and projects aimed at defining and developing system architecture and implementation.
- Analyze user requirements, procedures, and challenges to automate processes or enhance existing systems.
- Evaluate current and future solutions, applications, and technologies, establishing requirements and planning objectives.
- Manage the implementation of agency systems, oversee staff training on new systems, resolve issues, and monitor system functionality and effectiveness.
Development and Innovation
Lead the development, analysis, and revision of design protocols, program codes, testing procedures, and quality standards. Innovate and implement new or revised methods to effectively address agency technological needs. Create business architecture models that align with the organization's strategies and objectives, and develop visual representations to compare current and proposed systems in terms of costs, benefits, and value-added functionality.
