Job Description

Job Summary:

The Texas Department of Public Safety is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Architect to join our team. As a Project Architect, you will be responsible for leading architectural projects from conception to completion, ensuring that they meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and functionality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement architectural designs for new and existing facilities, including renovations and expansions.
  • Oversee the preparation of construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and estimates.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders, including project managers, contractors, and vendors, to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Supervise and mentor junior architects and engineers to ensure that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor progress and ensure that projects are being completed in accordance with plans and specifications.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with contractors, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure that projects are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Prepare and present reports to management and stakeholders on project progress, including budget, schedule, and quality metrics.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices to ensure that the department is using the most effective and efficient methods for managing architectural projects.

Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in Architecture.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in architectural design and project management, preferably in a government or public safety setting.
  • Registration as an Architect by the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other software applications, including Autodesk Revit and Adobe Creative Suite.

Working Conditions:

The Project Architect will work in a office environment, with occasional site visits required. The position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
