Role Summary:

As a Functional Safety Architect, you will join the AMD Functional Safety team, playing a crucial role in certifying pivotal AMD products aimed at high-growth sectors, including digital cockpit technologies and autonomous driving solutions. Your responsibilities will encompass conducting safety analyses and offering technical leadership for product line safety functions, collaborating closely with various functional stakeholders within AMD.

This demanding position requires not only advanced project leadership capabilities but also a comprehensive understanding of safety standards applicable to the automotive and industrial sectors. We are in search of a seasoned System on Chip (SoC) Architect with proven expertise, capable of driving architectural decisions, product roadmaps, and defining product requirements.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate for this role will be a senior professional who can mentor the team, provide strategic direction, and actively engage in resolving issues promptly. You should possess an open-minded and positive attitude, as your involvement will span various areas impacting team performance, automation, and development. Exceptional communication and presentation skills are essential, demonstrated through technical publications, presentations, and executive briefings. You should excel in collaboration with top-tier thinkers and engineers, ready to mentor and uplift the team's knowledge and skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define product features and capabilities, ensuring alignment of architecture and micro-architecture Functional Safety requirements, and drive technical specifications for SoC and IP blocks.
  • Collaborate with the Functional Safety Fellow to synchronize the efforts of the safety architects.
  • Understand the complete system requirements for Functional Safety, encompassing hardware, firmware, BIOS, and software, ensuring alignment for optimal safety performance.
  • Independently execute Functional Safety tasks and analyses.
  • Conduct safety concept explorations and scope evaluations.
  • Perform high-level safety analyses using established safety analysis tools at both architectural and microarchitectural levels.
  • Develop verification plans, including safety verification plans to validate safety metrics pre- and post-silicon.
  • Establish and maintain the Safety Manual.
  • Assess product line compliance with ISO/IEC metrics.
  • Facilitate the reuse of safety cases and designs through effective advice, metrics reporting, and timely escalation.
  • Identify and address critical system safety topics with customers, representing the business in relevant forums.
  • Engage in evaluations of proposed technical solutions to assess the feasibility of developing and calibrating software solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong foundation in Systems and SoC architecture, with expertise in areas such as CPU, GPU, memory subsystems, and security.
  • Experience in software development is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with ISO 26262 and IEC 61508 standards is preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of system safety and monitoring methodologies is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, management, and presentation abilities.
  • Adept at fostering collaboration among senior architects and teams across various geographies.

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Mechatronic Engineering, or a related field.
