Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Lead Systems Architect to join our diverse and skilled team. This role will be based in Palmdale, CA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians in a laboratory setting.
  • Provide guidance on the integration of emerging industry technologies into program systems.
  • Execute engineering modifications to the system as necessary.
  • Evaluate, analyze, and incorporate technical requirements into comprehensive system architectures.
  • Oversee network configurations and coordinate with the team.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in work hours (2nd shift, potentially weekends) as required.

Basic Qualifications for Lead Systems Architect:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in a relevant field (STEM) with 5 years of experience; OR 3 years of relevant experience with a Master’s (MS) degree; OR a PhD in a STEM field with no prior experience; an additional 4 years of relevant experience/education may substitute for a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Advanced technical expertise in Red Hat and/or other Linux operating systems.
  • Experience with Splunk.
  • Familiarity with STIGs and their implementation, along with DNS, particularly Linux BIND.
  • Proficiency in scripting/programming (e.g., Bash/Shell, Ansible, Python, etc.).
  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance.
  • Capability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP/PAR) prior to employment commencement, within a timeframe deemed reasonable by the company to meet business needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with imaging, backup, and restore software and scripting (e.g., Clonezilla, Linux dump).
  • Experience in leading and managing internal programs, collaborating with engineers to delegate tasks and efforts.
  • Familiarity with container technologies (Docker, Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes).
  • Strong background in virtualization platforms (VMWare, KVM, Hyper-V, RH-V).
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and provide updates on critical milestones.
  • Capability to mentor and develop junior engineers, sharing knowledge to enhance procedures and recommend technological advancements.
  • Basic to advanced understanding of networking and network systems, including iSCSI connectivity.
  • Experience in the design, implementation, and maintenance of Linux/Unix systems.
  • Experience in the design, implementation, and maintenance of containerization technologies.
  • Active PAR.

Salary Range: $107,300 - $160,900
This salary range serves as a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers various factors when determining base salary offers, including the scope and responsibilities of the position, along with the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Employees may qualify for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay, designed to reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director roles may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. Northrop Grumman also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, life and disability insurance, savings plans, company-paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO) for personal or vacation purposes.
