Manufacturing Engineer

Reports to: Mfg Eng Manager
Department: Manufacturing Engineering

Job Overview:

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for defining, researching, developing, implementing, and maintaining safe and cost-efficient manufacturing systems, processes, and methodologies. This role utilizes robust Engineering and Project Management techniques, ensuring alignment with customer expectations, product specifications, and quality benchmarks. The engineer will lead and facilitate projects involving new or modified equipment and machinery, focusing on continuous improvement initiatives. Recommendations will be provided regarding safety, manufacturability, and product quality, with a persistent emphasis on safety, quality, and productivity, adopting a Lean mindset.

Key Responsibilities:

1) Effectively communicates with both internal and external stakeholders, addressing inquiries promptly and meeting established deadlines.
2) Leads projects and collaborates with Operations, Product Engineering, Quality Assurance, Maintenance, and Warehouse teams throughout the project lifecycle.
3) Develops and documents specifications for new machinery, equipment, and automation technologies.
4) Analyzes requests from team members for modifications in manufacturing methods to enhance Safety, Quality, Delivery, Costs, and compatibility with existing equipment.
5) Proposes and develops manufacturing methodologies that enhance customer value through waste reduction, shorter cycle times, and improved product quality.
6) Champions the creation and revision of work instructions for use by personnel across the organization.
7) Conducts analyses aimed at cost reduction, quality enhancement, and efficiency improvements.
8) Performs root-cause analysis and troubleshooting as necessary.
9) Conducts time studies and establishes performance standards.
10) Modifies and develops new routing processes.

Additional Duties:

1) Provides support to the Safety Committee as required.
2) Shares responsibility for maintaining AutoCAD drawings of facilities, processes, and equipment with appropriate revision control.
3) Collaborates in maintaining and enhancing General Equipment and Machinery Specifications.
4) Undertakes other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

1) Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
2) Proven ability to organize and manage multiple priorities effectively.
3) Strong work ethic with the capability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
4) Highly motivated self-starter.
5) Exceptional writing, presentation, communication, and organizational skills.
6) Ability to perform under pressure.
7) Technical expertise in manufacturing processes and methods, including flow, layouts, assembly, machining, and tooling.
8) Strong problem-solving skills with a creative approach to innovation.
9) Quality-focused with meticulous attention to detail.
10) High level of proficiency in computer applications, including AutoCAD and MS Office.
