About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Associate Director of Development to join our team at Johns Hopkins University. This is an exciting opportunity to lead fundraising efforts for the Institute for Basic Biomedical Sciences and the Life Sciences Building and Corridor.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies to support the research and educational missions of the Institute for Basic Biomedical Sciences and the Life Sciences Building and Corridor.
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gift donors, with a focus on past donors, graduate alumni, and unaffiliated prospects.
  • Work closely with the Director of Development, faculty, and staff to build and implement a comprehensive development and engagement plan.
  • Lead fundraising efforts for specific departments and programs within the Institute for Basic Biomedical Sciences and the Life Sciences Building and Corridor.
  • Staff, educate, and train faculty and staff to engage them as fundraising partners and successfully guide them through the development process.
  • Build and manage a portfolio of major gift donors, with a focus on individual donors with capacity in the 5-7 figure range.
  • Foster cross-divisional partnerships with other departments in the School of Medicine, other schools and programs involved in the Life Sciences Building and Corridor, and other units to identify joint-interest donor opportunities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Five years professional related experience.
  • Experience soliciting major gifts preferred, ideally in an academic/medical setting.
  • Ability to work independently, manage projects, and determine priorities, and to maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work with broadly diverse groups of constituents to achieve fundraising goals.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Excellent writing, editorial, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong computer literacy skills and ability to learn new software.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
What We Offer

Johns Hopkins University offers a competitive salary range of $72,600 - $127,000, with a targeted salary of $110,000 commensurate with experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement savings plan, and paid time off.
