About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Associate Director of Development to join our team at Johns Hopkins University. This is an exciting opportunity to lead fundraising efforts for the Institute for Basic Biomedical Sciences and the Life Sciences Building and Corridor.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Execute Fundraising Strategies: Work with the Director of Development to execute fundraising strategies that support the research and educational needs of the Institute for Basic Biomedical Sciences and the LSB/LSC.
  • Identify and Cultivate Donors: Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward annual and major gifts, primarily focusing on past donors, graduate alumni, and former postdocs.
  • Build and Manage a Portfolio: Build and manage a portfolio of individual donors with capacity in the 5-7 figure range, with the goal of personally soliciting or arranging for volunteer or institutional solicitation for major gift support.
  • Foster Cross-Divisional Partnerships: Foster partnerships with other departments in the School of Medicine, other schools and programs involved in the LSB/LSC, and other units to identify joint-interest donor opportunities.
  • Travel and Representation: Travel as needed for prospect visits and represent the Institute for Basic Biomedical Sciences and the LSB/LSC at various events and meetings.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree and five years of professional experience in fundraising, preferably in an academic or medical setting.
  • Skills and Abilities: Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, excellent writing and verbal communication skills, and strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Other Requirements: Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, sense of humor, and strong computer literacy skills.
