Position Overview

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct treatment services to participants through individual and group sessions.
  • Implement and facilitate scheduled program curricula, utilizing techniques such as motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral therapy.
  • Engage with participants daily, reinforcing program rules and expectations for active participation.
  • Collaborate with participants to create and execute treatment plans, educating them about available support networks for their reintegration into the community.
  • Monitor and document participant progress, noting any observable changes in behavior and demeanor.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of participant information and treatment outcomes.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports that align with organizational standards and comply with relevant clinical regulations.
  • Coordinate with transition and reentry staff to ensure continuity of care and program activities.
  • Work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including institutional staff and supervisory personnel.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Less than one year of experience in providing substance use disorder treatment services as a certified AOD Counselor.
  • Current AOD Certification from a DHCS-recognized organization or registration with a relevant certifying body.
  • Understanding of the causes and effects of substance abuse, along with an appreciation for its behavioral, psychological, and social implications.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite; familiarity with ARMS is preferred.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and sensitivity when working with participants.
  • Commitment to ethical standards and safeguarding participant confidentiality.
