Position Overview: As a Substance Use Disorder Counselor at Aurora Behavioral Healthcare San Diego, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality direct and indirect care to individuals facing substance use challenges and related mental health concerns.

Compensation: Pay Range: $24/hr. to $30/hr.

Work Schedule: Tuesday to Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate patients' levels of substance use and associated mental health conditions.
  • Design and execute a comprehensive treatment plan in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Facilitate educational and therapeutic group sessions addressing substance use and dual diagnosis issues.
  • Maintain communication with referral sources and relevant parties regarding patient progress.
  • Oversee and coordinate patient discharge processes.
  • Participate in departmental and clinical meetings to enhance program effectiveness.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of clinical services.
  • Provide support to the Needs Assessment and Referral Department as needed.
  • Engage in professional development activities to further enhance skills.

Required Skills:

  • Experience in delivering individual and group therapy.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management abilities.
  • Proficient in treatment planning and maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Effective public speaking skills with a commitment to ethical standards and confidentiality.
  • Ability to establish therapeutic relationships with patients at various stages of recovery, demonstrating self-control in challenging situations.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification as CADC, SUDCC, or current RADT, SUDRC.
  • Preferred experience working with adults and adolescents dealing with substance use and co-occurring disorders.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers.
