QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor credential or a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant work or volunteer experience in the field of substance abuse.

Experience of at least 1 year in teaching or presenting materials related to addiction recovery is required.

Must hold a valid Driver's License and maintain a clean Motor Vehicle Record.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Word, Excel, and Access, with a willingness to learn additional software as necessary.

Applicants must be at least 21 years of age.

Exceptional organizational abilities and attention to detail are essential.

Must demonstrate the capacity to make critical decisions and work independently with minimal supervision.

Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, ensuring each is completed professionally and punctually.

Exhibit professional judgment and integrity in maintaining confidentiality regarding all information related to beneficiaries, families, and colleagues.


Commitment to uphold and implement the philosophy and objectives of The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center Program and the ARC Mission Statement.

Active Christian perspective is required.

If in recovery, candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of continuous sobriety.

No evidence of current chemical dependency is permitted.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, or twist intermittently or continuously.

Capability to grasp, push, and pull objects such as files and office equipment.

Ability to communicate clearly over the telephone.

Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs.

Ability to perform various repetitive motion tasks.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:


Under the supervision of the Center Administrator, the Lead Counselor is accountable for overseeing the Program staff, delivering counseling services and educational support directly to beneficiaries.

As a vital member of the Rehabilitation team, the Lead Counselor fosters an environment conducive to effective performance and learning through positive attitudes, a willingness to teach and learn, and availability to both beneficiaries and staff.

Encouragement is provided for individuals to pursue further experience and training, enhancing their ability to serve those seeking assistance from The Salvation Army.


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

PERSONNEL AND STAFFING:
Recruit sufficient staff to meet program needs in collaboration with the ARC HR coordinator, adhering to ARC and TSA policies.

Recruit, train, and effectively utilize community volunteers.

Conduct weekly program meetings to ensure communication and team support.

INTAKE OPERATIONS:
Ensure that intake operations are developed and executed in accordance with ARC standards.

Ensure all documentation and data entry are completed as required by ARCC and local regulations.

CURRICULUM:
Ensure that the curriculum complies with ARC standards.

Utilize appropriate teaching objectives and outlines.

Recruit qualified instructors for all classes.

Ensure that one-on-one counseling (at least bi-weekly) and group process counseling (weekly) are conducted.

INTERN PROGRAM:
Establish connections with local colleges and universities to recruit interns.

Provide adequate training for interns.

Supervise interns or find a suitable supervisor consultant to ensure proper oversight.

Assign counseling and teaching responsibilities to each intern.

COUNSELING:
Assist beneficiaries in understanding and overcoming social and emotional challenges through individual and group counseling.

Maintain current beneficiary files with proper documentation of counseling and class activities.

Develop individualized Rehabilitation Plans for beneficiaries receiving counseling.

Assist beneficiaries in preparing for 3 and 5-month reviews.

Conduct assigned Christian education classes.

Lead additional groups or classes as needed.

Teach classes within the program's educational framework.

Participate in weekly Case Conferences, providing valuable input.

Maintain and document counseling statistics for monthly Program reports.

Document and maintain appropriate Progress Notes in beneficiary files.

Assess the spiritual needs of beneficiaries and refer to the Chaplain as necessary.

Attend at least one Wednesday night chapel service each month.

Serve as a backup for other counselors as required.

Support other staff members in the Program Department as possible.

Monitor overtime; all overtime must be approved by the Administrator or their designee.

OTHER DUTIES:
Collaborate with the Administrator to develop the most effective program.

Ensure compliance with ARCC review standards within the program department.

Travel to events as required.

Perform additional duties as assigned by the ARC Administrator.
