Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Accounting
  • 4 years of experience with in-depth knowledge of accounting processes, including journal entries, revenue and expense accruals, and general ledger analysis
  • 3 years of experience with proficient understanding of GAAP and accounting standards
  • 2 years of experience in internal control review procedures
  • 1 year of experience participating in project teams or leading projects

Senior Revenue Accounting Specialist

The Senior Revenue Accounting Specialist is accountable for the timely and effective examination of general ledger activities and account balances to ensure the precision of information included in both internal and external financial reports. This role supports the Financial Accounting Department managers in the monthly analysis of the Corporation's income statement, along with various corporate banking and treasury services accounting functions.

Position Responsibilities:

Analytics Leadership, Subject Matter Expert (SME), and Quality Assurance Reviewer
  • Conduct detailed reviews of general ledger entry activities for Corporate Banking and Treasury Accounting functions.
  • Perform comprehensive reviews of other revenue general ledger entries and related monthly receivable balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Act as a liaison to various departments (government services, revenue lines of business, and Divisional Finance) regarding accruals and review supporting accrual schedules for compliance with accounting standards prior to recognition in the GL.
  • Analyze noninterest income accounts to verify the accuracy of data recorded in the general ledger.
  • Prepare analyses for card revenues and associated revenue program processing expenses.
  • Collaborate with the FP&A team on forecast and plan versus actuals analysis.
  • Prepare specific monthly and quarterly financial statement variance reports for executive management.
  • Provide ad-hoc reporting and analysis to Accounting management and various areas of the bank as required.
  • Deliver relevant information to management and regulators in accordance with monthly, quarterly, and annual closing and reporting deadlines.
Special Projects Assistance
  • Collaborate as necessary with the Accounting Systems Manager on projects related to the effective design and implementation of Accounting's financial systems.
  • Support continuous departmental process improvement by identifying workflow inefficiencies and implementing new or improved processes and procedures.
  • Identify and lead the enhancement of functionalities provided within the Customer Accounts module of our ERP environment.
  • Review and update accounting processes and procedure manuals in response to system and process changes.
Risk, Audit, and Compliance
  • Provide support and serve as a point of contact for internal and external auditors and corporate tax on SOX, internal/external, and compliance audits.
  • Monitor and execute internal control objectives over areas of responsibility, ensuring internal controls are re-evaluated as appropriate based on changes in processes/procedures.
  • Prepare annual analyses for the Financial Accounting department RCSA and coordinate with department management for review. Provide and lead cross-training of team members and knowledge sharing with others as needed within the accounting and finance functions.
