The Senior Accounting Specialist plays a crucial role in managing the accounting and reconciliation of the general ledger, overseeing homebuilding reporting and tracking, ensuring revenue recognition, processing cash receipts and deposits, and preparing month-end reports.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the month-end closing process.
- Maintain robust accounting practices and systems in line with corporate policies and procedures.
- Prepare journal entries accurately.
- Conduct bank account and general ledger reconciliations.
- Support special project analyses.
- Oversee the reconciliation of suspense account activities.
- Record incoming wire transfers and manage returned items.
- Ensure the accuracy of monthly backlog profitability reports.
- Assist in the preparation of weekly reporting requirements.
- Prepare monthly revenue entries, various month-end accruals, reclassifications, and allocation entries.
- Utilize the ESSBASE system daily during month-end close and intermittently throughout the month to monitor all overhead expenses for accuracy and compare against original budgets, projections, and forecasts.
- Run monthly fixed asset reports as necessary.
- Prepare commission packages for review.
- Support accounts payable functions.
- Perform any additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required or a combination of equivalent education and experience.
- A minimum of two years of general accounting experience is required.
- Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience with JD Edwards is preferred.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
