The Senior Accounting Specialist plays a crucial role in managing the accounting and reconciliation of the general ledger, overseeing homebuilding reporting and tracking, ensuring accurate revenue recognition, processing cash receipts and deposits, and preparing month-end reports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the month-end closing process.
  • Maintain robust accounting methods and systems in alignment with corporate policies and procedures.
  • Prepare journal entries accurately.
  • Conduct bank account and general ledger reconciliations.
  • Support special project analyses.
  • Oversee the reconciliation of suspense account activities.
  • Record incoming wire transfers and manage returned items.
  • Ensure the accuracy of monthly backlog profitability reports.
  • Assist in the preparation of weekly reporting requirements.
  • Prepare monthly revenue entries, various month-end accruals, reclassifications, and allocation entries.
  • Run the ESSBASE system daily during month-end close and periodically throughout the month to monitor overhead expenses for accuracy against original budgets, projections, and forecasts.
  • Manage monthly fixed assets as needed.
  • Prepare commission packages for review.
  • Support accounts payable functions.
  • Perform any additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a combination of equivalent education and experience.
  • A minimum of two years of general accounting experience is required.
  • Proficient computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience with JD Edwards is preferred.
  • Exceptional attention to detail is essential.
