Position Summary:

The Financial Operations Supervisor for Further Processing is responsible for overseeing the financial activities related to our manufacturing operations. This role is crucial in ensuring precise operational and analytical functions, including yield and variance reporting, inventory management, and production analysis.

This position involves collaborating with various departments to enhance financial decision-making and operational efficiency while nurturing a team of accounting professionals.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the collection and analysis of departmental production yield data.
  • Mentor and develop a team of accounting staff, promoting a collaborative work environment.
  • Analyze actual costs against standard costs from multiple sources.
  • Conduct regular account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Prepare and review yield and labor variance reports on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Execute ad hoc reporting and analytics as required.
  • Communicate production reporting results to senior management.
  • Prepare and enter journal entries as necessary.
  • Support month-end closing processes, reporting, and analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and company policies.
  • Oversee payroll processing and time record system submissions.
  • Coordinate budget preparation with production and operations teams using Zero Base Budgeting and Activity Based Costing methodologies.
  • Assist in the development of budgets, forecasts, and financial plans, providing insights to management.
  • Engage in production-related analysis and discussions.
  • Collaborate with auditors, providing necessary documentation during audits.
  • Review financial data to identify trends and opportunities for cost savings.
  • Support the Production Reporting & Accounting Manager with various projects.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across functions.
  • A thorough understanding of accounting principles, GAAP, and financial reporting standards.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional time management skills, capable of managing multiple priorities.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement and process automation.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Integrity in handling confidential information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software such as SAP or other ERP systems.

Education & Experience:

A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is required. A combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Candidates should have a minimum of 4 years of relevant accounting experience, including roles such as Financial Analyst or Staff Accountant, with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity managing a team.

Experience in the food manufacturing sector, particularly in further processing, is highly desirable.


Working Conditions:

This position is primarily office-based, with a moderate noise level. It may involve occasional lifting of light weights and requires the ability to stand for short periods.
