Position Overview:

The Transportation Assistant plays a vital role in facilitating safe and efficient transportation for residents, both within the facility and to external appointments. This position is crucial for maintaining high standards of care and ensuring effective collaboration among team members. The individual will be responsible for managing resources adeptly while providing exceptional support to residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely transport residents to external medical appointments using facility vehicles.
  • Assist residents in navigating within the facility for scheduled healthcare visits.
  • Accompany residents to in-house activities, ensuring their safety and comfort.
  • Provide close monitoring for residents at risk of elopement during external visits.
  • Perform basic nursing care tasks as required.
  • Ensure a clean, comfortable, and secure environment for residents.
  • Accurately maintain resident documentation and records.
  • Comply with all departmental, center, and corporate policies, including safety and infection control protocols.
  • Engage in training and orientation programs to improve the quality of care provided.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned to support the team.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent G.E.D.
  • Valid Driver's License in the state of employment.
  • Completion of an approved Nurse Aide Training Program or eligibility to enroll within 120 days of hire.
  • Possession of a Red Cross First Aid Certificate.
  • Experience in roles requiring independent decision-making.
  • Prior experience in healthcare or service-oriented positions is preferred.
  • A compassionate and enthusiastic approach to resident care.
