Key Responsibilities of the Recreational Activities Coordinator include:

  • Design and implement all planned activity programs.
  • Understand and adhere to established policies and procedures, suggesting modifications as needed.
  • Follow the care plan for activities to ensure residents' needs are fulfilled.
  • Encourage resident participation in both group and individual activities.
  • Take responsibility and accountability for all assigned tasks.
  • Report any complaints or grievances to the Executive Director.
  • Engage in surveys conducted by authorized governmental bodies.
  • Complete all assigned responsibilities.
  • Provide individual reality orientation as needed.
  • Facilitate group activities of varying sizes.
  • Accompany residents on outings and encourage their participation.
  • Collaborate with student and adult volunteers.
  • Assist residents with personal correspondence, including mail handling and letter writing.
  • Conduct personal shopping as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Administrator.

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent (GED); or two years of relevant experience and/or training; or a suitable combination of education and experience is required.
  • The Recreational Activities Coordinator must be a licensed occupational therapist, therapy assistant, or therapeutic recreation specialist (specific to skilled nursing environments).

Pre-employment prerequisites include:

  • Background verification
  • Mantoux (TB) Test
