Position Overview:
The primary function of the Transportation Assistant is to facilitate safe and efficient transportation for residents, both within the facility and to external appointments. This role is vital in upholding high standards of care, ensuring that all tasks are executed effectively, and working collaboratively with colleagues to foster a supportive environment. In addition to delivering outstanding care, the Transportation Assistant will be responsible for optimizing resource management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely transport residents to external medical appointments using facility vehicles.
- Assist with internal transportation for scheduled healthcare visits, including podiatry, audiology, and dental services.
- Accompany residents to and from organized activities within the facility.
- Provide individualized monitoring for residents at risk of elopement during external trips.
- Perform basic nursing care tasks as required.
- Ensure that residents are in a clean, comfortable, and secure setting that meets their needs.
- Accurately maintain resident documentation and records.
- Comply with all departmental, facility, and corporate policies, including safety and infection control standards.
- Engage in training sessions and orientation programs to enhance care quality.
- Carry out additional assigned duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent G.E.D.
- Valid Driver's License in the state of employment.
- Completion of an approved Nurse Aide Training Program or eligibility to enroll within 120 days of hire.
- Possession of a Red Cross First Aid Certificate.
- Experience in roles requiring independent decision-making.
- Previous experience in healthcare or service-oriented environments is preferred.
- A compassionate and enthusiastic approach to care.
