Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Laboratory Manager to join our team at Gateway Regional Medical Center. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective operation of our clinical laboratory, providing accurate and timely clinical laboratory services, and supervising the work of personnel in assigned areas of responsibility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management
    • Supervise and manage the work of laboratory personnel, including staff development, training, and performance evaluations.
    • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.
    • Collaborate with the Laboratory Director to develop and implement strategic plans to improve laboratory operations and services.
  • Quality and Compliance
    • Ensure the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results, including quality control and quality assurance activities.
    • Develop and implement procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.
    • Participate in continuous quality improvement activities to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Operational Management
    • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the laboratory, including personnel management, budgeting, and resource allocation.
    • Develop and implement procedures to ensure the efficient and effective use of laboratory resources.
    • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless integration of laboratory services.
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Communicate effectively with laboratory personnel, other departments, and external stakeholders to ensure the smooth operation of laboratory services.
    • Collaborate with other departments to develop and implement policies and procedures.
    • Participate in continuous quality improvement activities to identify and implement process improvements.
    Requirements
    • Baccalaureate degree in chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution.
    • Completed and approved ASCP (or equivalent) certification pathway or have satisfied CLIA requirements for HEW certification.
    • Minimum of 4 years of experience in laboratory science, with a minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience.
    • Strong communication and critical thinking skills.
