POSITION SUMMARY: The Administrative House Manager is responsible for offering both clinical and administrative support to nursing staff and overseeing the operations of all departments in the absence of department heads and hospital administration. This role ensures adherence to nursing care standards and promotes the professional development of employees and students utilizing the clinical facilities of Gateway Regional Medical Center.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures optimal staffing for all patient care units, considering continuity of care, clinical expertise, and unit acuity, while managing costs and appropriate care hours.
  • Maintains a positive and effective work environment.
  • Provides counseling to employees as needed and takes immediate disciplinary action when necessary.
  • Conducts a minimum of two rounds on all patient care units during each shift, remaining attentive to interdepartmental concerns.
  • Acts as a resource in the absence of other departmental personnel, including Central Supply and Pharmacy.
  • Offers leadership and direction aligned with departmental and organizational goals.
  • Facilitates communication with physicians, staff, patients, and families to address issues and enhance care.
  • Serves as a resource for department managers regarding staff performance evaluations.
  • Acts as a liaison to other departments involved with Nursing Services, such as Education, Human Resources, and Medical Records.
  • Participates actively in Nursing Service Administration meetings.
  • Adapts to changing circumstances to meet organizational needs.
  • Functions as a clinical resource, assisting nursing personnel in assessing patient and family status to plan appropriate nursing care.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

  • Graduate of a state-approved nursing program.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is required.

LICENSING AND CERTIFICATION:

  • Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Illinois.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in acute care, with at least 2 years of management or administrative experience in healthcare preferred.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • CPR certification is required.
  • Exceptional communication skills for effective interaction with patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and organize daily schedules to meet productivity standards.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Knowledge of growth and development across all patient age groups, including pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.
  • Ability to understand and respond effectively to patient needs.
