Position Summary: The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) plays a pivotal role in optimizing the financial performance of the organization. This position is responsible for establishing and enforcing robust financial policies, procedures, and reporting systems. As a key partner to the CEO and a vital member of the senior leadership team, the CFO contributes significantly to strategic planning and the achievement of organizational goals. This role ensures compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements related to financial reporting and accounting practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Strategy and Planning:

  • Oversee the financial health of the organization, providing insights to promote growth and operational efficiency.
  • Formulate and execute financial strategies that align with the mission and objectives of the organization.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with senior leadership and departmental managers.
  • Deliver timely financial intelligence and analytical support to the executive team and Board of Directors.

Accounting, Financial and Risk Management:

  • Manage all accounting operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Implement best practices for fiscal management and project coordination across teams.
  • Oversee cash management policies and ensure effective cash flow management.
  • Protect organizational assets through internal controls and auditing processes.
  • Supervise all vendor and service contracts.

Financial Reporting and Analysis:

  • Establish financial benchmarks and develop key performance indicators (KPIs) for performance measurement.
  • Prepare reports for the Board of Directors and ensure compliance with auditing standards.
  • Facilitate Board meetings and provide necessary documentation for financial discussions.
  • Ensure timely filing of required tax forms and manage the annual audit process.

Qualifications and Personal Attributes:

  • Strong alignment with the mission of Meals on Wheels to ensure no senior is left hungry or isolated.
  • Proven entrepreneurial mindset with experience in developing new revenue streams.
  • Extensive knowledge of financial management with a minimum of five years in a senior financial role.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.

Educational and Professional Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field; MBA, CPA, or CMA preferred. A minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in financial management, including at least 2 years as a CFO. Familiarity with nonprofit accounting and compliance is essential. Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite is required.
