POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Human Resources Specialist is accountable for a comprehensive range of HR functions, including talent management, employee engagement, benefits administration, organizational development, recruitment strategies, and fostering a positive workplace culture aligned with FFP's core values.

This role also involves executing specific projects aimed at enhancing FFP's operations, nurturing a supportive and high-performance environment, and collaborating with leadership throughout the organization.

The HR Specialist will advocate for and implement initiatives that promote best practices while ensuring adherence to federal and state regulations.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administrative –

Assist with the workers' compensation process, including incident report completion and employee inquiries

Support unemployment claims as necessary

Respond to questions regarding policies, procedures, and programs

Effectively communicate with management and payroll regarding employee status changes

Assist in the administration of corporate HR initiatives to ensure compliance and effectiveness

Prepare reports, analyses, and presentations as required

Talent Acquisition –

Collaborate with department heads to identify necessary skills and competencies for open positions; assist in developing a workforce plan to anticipate hiring needs

Work alongside the Talent Acquisition team to share updates, assess progress, and outline next steps for hiring exempt positions

Identify workforce and hiring strategies to enhance talent acquisition for production staff

Manage local talent acquisition efforts, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and making hiring recommendations in partnership with hiring managers

Onboarding & Orientation –

Oversee all aspects of new employee orientation, ensuring a positive initial experience and welcoming environment

Provide essential information for a successful start (benefits, company policies, etc.)

Encourage enthusiasm and excitement about the role within the company

Gather feedback from new hires regarding onboarding practices and implement improvements based on their insights

Stay updated on onboarding best practices; develop and propose enhancements for ongoing improvement

Compensation & Benefits –

Collaborate with the HR Director and Benefits Manager to ensure effective communication of benefit information and resolution of any issues

Assist with benefits administration, including year-end processes, open enrollments, and new benefit introductions

Support the leave of absence program with third-party administrators, including feedback on issues and proposed solutions

Work with the Payroll Department on bi-weekly payroll transactions (salaries, benefits, deductions, etc.)

Compliance –

Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, reviewing policies and practices for compliance

Maintain knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting HR functions

Comply with all company safety and health policies and promote safe work practices

Ensure compliance with departmental guidelines and company standards

Employee Relations –

Address employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex matters to appropriate personnel

Participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations

HR Consulting –

Stay informed about trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in HR and employment law

Build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with internal and external partners

Establish trust and respect with employees

Clearly interpret and communicate HR policies, procedures, laws, and regulations

Act as a role model, promoting collaboration and championing company values

Talent Development –

Monitor and document compliance with mandatory and optional training, continuing education, and work assessments

Collaborate with management to identify training and development needs; discuss opportunities with the HR team to address FFP's requirements

Support and/or deliver training on topics such as interviewing, hiring, performance management, and promotions

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field

A minimum of three years of progressive HR management/generalist experience

Basic understanding of employee policies, benefit programs, and related legal compliance areas

Ability to maintain confidentiality

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of representing the organization externally

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Experience with HRIS systems.
