OVERVIEW:

The Front Line Business Controls - IT (FLBC-IT) team at Fifth Third serves as the primary steward for managing risk and controls within our technology framework. The Centralized Testing function is responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of controls within the IT sector. This team is currently undergoing a transformation to establish a streamlined and efficient centralized controls testing operation, ensuring ongoing monitoring and effective risk identification.

The Centralized Testing Team is seeking a Senior Associate to play a pivotal role in leading and executing controls testing for various Enterprise and Regulatory Programs. This position is essential for identifying control deficiencies, collaborating with first line teams to formulate remediation strategies, and enhancing the IT control landscape. All activities will align with the Enterprise Risk Management Framework and Enterprise Testing Guidelines. Additionally, this role will focus on identifying opportunities for streamlining and automating controls testing, working alongside a diverse range of professionals across the organization, including our second and third line partners, to implement successful automation solutions.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in risk and controls, along with a deep understanding of processes, risks, and controls. They should be a strong team player with a proven history of delivering complex projects successfully, demonstrating excellent influence and communication skills that drive meaningful change.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Identify, design, develop, and execute controls testing for technology-related controls at Fifth Third.
  • Assist the ITBCG Risk Manager in executing Centralized Testing and broader responsibilities.
  • Collaborate across the Technology organization to provide strategic and tactical insights for evolving control design and development.
  • Maintain a comprehensive view of the control environment while driving enhancements.
  • Conduct controls testing for various self-assessments, Regulatory, and Compliance Programs.
  • Build relationships and work collaboratively with key stakeholders.
  • Support the resolution of issues related to Internal Audit, Compliance, Risk Management, and Regulatory matters that could affect data or process integrity.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, information systems, technology management, or a related field; Master's Degree preferred.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISA or CISSP are preferred.
  • Familiarity with industry and regulatory frameworks like NIST 800-53, COBIT, and FFIEC.
  • Over 5 years of experience in financial services, risk management, business controls, or compliance.
  • Strong leadership, critical thinking, and collaboration skills are essential.
  • Attention to detail is crucial for success in this role.
  • Ability to influence peers and managers on complex, technical, or sensitive issues with company-wide implications.
  • Analytical skills to interpret and apply policies and regulations in a large, complex organization.
  • In-depth expertise in business functions and knowledge of relevant policies and procedures.
  • Broad understanding of banking products and operations is required.
  • Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills are necessary.
