Textum OPCO, LLC is seeking a Composite Materials Engineer to join our innovative team focused on advanced composite manufacturing.

Our expertise lies in developing textile solutions for challenging environments, which we apply to specialty composite production. We cater to various sectors, including aerospace, defense, energy, and infrastructure. Our experience encompasses thermal protection systems for aerospace vehicles, preforms for ceramic matrix composites, and carbon-carbon processing solutions.

We are in search of a skilled Composite Materials Engineer to assist in the development and production processes associated with composite part manufacturing. This position is ideal for early-career professionals. The successful candidate will have experience in environments involving high-temperature equipment and possess knowledge of safe chemical handling practices. Responsibilities include maintaining safety and productivity standards while adhering to quality systems, supporting all facets of production from supply chain management to final product delivery.

The Composite Materials Engineer will engage in a variety of hands-on tasks, including but not limited to: kitting, molding, equipment upkeep, fabrication, and assembly. There will also be opportunities for growth into sales, marketing, research and development, quality assurance, and other roles.

This is a full-time, direct hire opportunity with first shift hours.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a range of engineering tasks, including process documentation, part fabrication, communication with internal and external stakeholders, supplier coordination, technician leadership, and shop management.
  • Generate and prepare technical documentation and communicate effectively with technicians.
  • Train and supervise technicians to ensure task completion.
  • Accurately record all data and results in designated formats (both paper and electronic).
  • Maintain equipment and assist in supply ordering.
  • Support both production and research and development initiatives.
  • Conduct quality assurance on finished products and document any defects.
  • Work with various chemicals, fluids, and gases while adhering to OSHA standards regarding personal protective equipment.
  • Strictly follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment.
  • Learn high-temperature composite processing techniques, including C/C and CMCs.
  • Acquire knowledge of advanced textile weaving operations.
Qualifications
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Willingness to apply for and maintain a U.S. DoD Security Clearance is required.
  • A Bachelor's degree is mandatory.
  • Experience with SolidWorks is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with composite materials is preferred.
  • Experience with high-temperature composites such as C/C or CMCs is a significant asset.
  • General mechanical aptitude and good manual dexterity are essential.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and complete assigned tasks under pressure.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills and basic math proficiency are necessary.
  • Problem-solving skills using established procedures for straightforward tasks.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a diverse team environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Capability to operate various hand tools and machinery.
  • Candidates must pass a drug test and background check.
