Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Welding Engineer to join our team at Deanna Nesbit & Associates, Inc., LLC. As a Welding Engineer, you will be responsible for performing laser welding, supervision, root cause/corrective actions, and providing program support for defense programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Laser Welding Expertise: Provide strong mechanical and technical leadership in the laser welding technology area.
  • Capital Management: Manage the capital requirements for laser/resistance welder equipment upgrades and/or replacement to ensure sustainability.
  • Metallurgical Evaluations: Conduct cutting/sectioning and evaluation of materials.
  • Quality Systems: Follow ISO quality systems and DCN (change management processes).
  • Design and Development: Design and develop a wide range of welding systems.
  • Supervision and Leadership: Supervise the workings of other welders and engineering technicians, including safety.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and ensure all welding equipment is in working order.
  • Project Leadership: Take charge and provide leadership of welding projects.
  • Troubleshooting: Perform troubleshooting and find root cause.
  • Equipment Changeovers: Perform equipment changeovers and set-ups.
  • Maintenance and Standards: Implement laser welding machine maintenance and standards across the organization.
  • Customer Interaction: Interact with customers on design, interface, and functional details.
  • Support to Manufacturing: Support the manufacturing and analysis of energetic materials that require welding.
  • Technical Reporting: Perform routine technical report writing as necessary in support of projects.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Coordinate with stakeholders and clients.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Support the site compliance with DOD/DOE regulations.
  • Team Support: Support project and operations teams.
  • Product Support: Support existing products and product upgrades.
  • Failure Analysis: Participate in failure analysis activities.
  • Bid and Proposal Support: Support bid and proposal activities.
Requirements
  • Education: The successful candidate must have a BS/MS in Welding Engineering or similar discipline.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of industry experience in laser welding is preferred.
  • Laser Welding Systems: Experience with Laser Welding systems and products using laser welding needed.
  • Resistance and Laser Welding: Experience with Resistance and Laser Welding is preferred.
  • DOE Clearance: Ability to achieve DOE Clearance Classified.
  • Industry Developments: Up to date with the latest industry developments and welding techniques.
  • Aerospace and Defense: Aerospace and/or defense product experiences are a bonus.
  • Energetic Materials: Must be capable of learning and applying energetics knowledge to various designs, including igniters, detonators, CAD/PAD, and similar energetic devices.
  • Design and Analysis: Experience generating 3D models & 2D drawings.
  • Specifications and Requirements: Demonstrated understanding of specifications and requirements and how to translate into product designs.
  • Engineering Blueprints: Ability to analyze engineering blueprints and designs for welding requirements.
  • GD&T: Demonstrated understanding and practice of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Product Cost Drivers: Understanding of product cost drivers.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Task Management: Ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficient with Microsoft Office suite software.
  • Design Software: Experience with SolidWorks, ProE, or AutoCAD software preferred.
  • Energetic Materials Experience: Experience with energetic materials is a bonus.
  • U.S. Citizenship: Please note that due to the requirements from the Department of Energy, U.S. CITIZENSHIP IS REQUIRED.
