Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Welding Engineer to join our team at Deanna Nesbit & Associates, Inc., LLC. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership in laser welding technology, managing capital requirements, and ensuring products meet requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Leadership: Provide strong mechanical and technical leadership in the laser welding technology area, interacting with customers, suppliers, and program teams to ensure products meet requirements.
  • Capital Management: Manage the capital requirements for laser/resistance welder equipment upgrades and/or replacement to ensure sustainability.
  • Metallurgical Evaluations: Conduct metallurgical evaluations, cutting/sectioning, and evaluation of welding processes.
  • Quality Systems: Follow ISO Quality Systems and DCN (change management processes) to ensure compliance.
  • Design and Development: Design and develop a wide range of welding systems, including laser welding machines.
  • Supervision and Safety: Supervise the workings of other welders and engineering technicians, ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and ensure all welding equipment is in working order.
  • Project Leadership: Take charge and provide leadership of welding projects, performing troubleshooting and finding root cause.
  • Equipment Changeovers: Perform equipment changeovers and setups, implementing laser welding machine maintenance and standards across the organization.
  • Customer Interface: Interact with customers on design interface and functional details, supporting the manufacturing and analysis of energetic materials that require welding.
  • Technical Reporting: Perform routine technical report writing as necessary in support of projects.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Coordinate with stakeholders and clients, ensuring site compliance with DOD/DOE regulations.
  • Team Support: Support project and operations teams, existing products, and product upgrades.
  • Failure Analysis: Participate in failure analysis activities, supporting bid and proposal activities.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Welding Engineering or a similar discipline.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of industry experience in laser welding, preferably with experience in laser welding systems and products.
  • Clearance: Ability to achieve DOE Clearance Classified.
  • Industry Knowledge: Up-to-date knowledge of the latest industry developments and welding techniques.
  • Aerospace and Defense Experience: Experience in aerospace and/or defense product development is a bonus.
  • Energetics Knowledge: Ability to learn and apply energetics knowledge to various designs, including igniters, detonators, CAD/PAD, and similar energetic devices.
  • Technical Skills: Experience generating 3D models and 2D drawings, demonstrated understanding of specifications and requirements, and ability to analyze engineering blueprints and designs for welding requirements.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and work in a team environment.
  • Software Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Office suite software, with experience with SolidWorks, ProE, or AutoCAD software preferred.
