Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our team at Virginia Tech University. As a key member of our culinary staff, you will be responsible for assisting in the supervision and day-to-day operations of our kitchen under the direction of the Executive Chef and Chef de Cuisine.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with food procurement and inventory management to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations.
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to execute menu plans and ensure high-quality food preparation and presentation.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with staff, vendors, and stakeholders to promote a positive and productive work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations, and maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment.
  • Participate in staff training and development programs to enhance culinary skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in a senior culinary role, preferably in a university or higher education setting.
  • Proven track record of leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.
