Position Overview

In this pivotal role, you will support the oversight and administration of a prominent university dining establishment under the guidance of the assistant director. Your responsibilities will encompass the implementation of menu strategies, budget management, staffing plans, customer engagement, safety protocols, and the upkeep of facilities and equipment. You will play a crucial role in mentoring, training, and developing team members while ensuring adherence to all operational policies and procedures. A commitment to delivering exceptional customer service within the dining environment is essential. You will also be responsible for crafting recipes and guaranteeing that food production meets the highest standards of quality, flavor, creativity, presentation, and variety.

Essential Qualifications

• Certification in nutrition, sanitation, hospitality management, culinary arts, and bakery skills or equivalent relevant experience.

• Graduate of an accredited culinary institution with at least an AOS degree or equivalent professional experience.

• Extensive knowledge of commercial kitchen operations and food service management.

• Proven experience in menu development, food preparation, setup, presentation, and pricing strategies.

• Familiarity with production scheduling, automated food ordering systems, merchandising, and maintenance practices.

• Demonstrated supervisory and management experience in a high-volume, diverse menu food service environment is required.

• Ability to cultivate and maintain effective relationships with a diverse student and staff demographic.

• Prior experience in a customer service role with outstanding customer service skills.

• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks while delivering high-quality service in a fast-paced food service setting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficient in computer applications including Windows, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Outlook.

• Experience with automated payroll systems.

• Familiarity with automated food inventory management systems.

• Eligibility for Certified Working Chef (C.W.C.) designation through ACF.

• ServSafe certification.

• HACCP certification.

• Strong leadership and supervisory skills are highly desirable.

Compensation Structure

Pay Band: 4

Salary Range: $47,000 - $56,900, commensurate with experience.

Additional Information

The selected candidate will undergo a criminal background check as well as a driving record evaluation.
