About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Night Clinical Intake Specialist to join our team at the Center for Justice Innovation. As a key member of our Supervised Release Program, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful transition of participants into our program.

Responsibilities
  • Intake and Assessment: Conduct comprehensive assessments for all participants mandated to our Supervised Release Program in Brooklyn, utilizing your expertise in mental health and social work to identify needs and develop personalized plans.
  • Voluntary Service Referrals: Provide referrals to community-based services as indicated by participant needs and goals, ensuring seamless access to support.
  • Mandatory Programming Recommendations: Work closely with the Clinical Intake Coordinator to generate and submit recommendations to the court, ensuring timely and effective implementation.
  • Case Assignment and Transition: Collaborate with the Clinical Intake Coordinator to effectively assign cases, ensuring smooth transitions from intake to case management teams.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Monitor participants' compliance with supervision requirements, conducting outreach and communication with participants, collateral contacts, and defense attorneys as needed.
  • Data Entry and Reporting: Maintain accurate and timely data entry and case documentation, submitting reports to the court within designated time frames.
  • De-escalation and Crisis Intervention: Provide de-escalation and emergency intervention within the courthouse, ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all.
  • Team Collaboration and Communication: Foster effective cross-team communication and collaboration, identifying successes, challenges, and opportunities to strengthen programming.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree in Mental Health Field: A Master's degree in a mental health field, such as social work or counseling, is required, with 2 years of direct practice experience.
  • Licensure: A license in a mental health field is strongly preferred.
  • Night and Weekend Availability: Ability to work nights and weekends is required.
  • Pretrial, Court-Based, or Criminal Legal System Experience: Experience in pretrial, court-based, or criminal legal system settings is strongly preferred.
  • Detail-Oriented and Organized: Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Therapeutic Intervention Training: Therapeutic intervention training and experience, including crisis intervention or de-escalation management, is preferred.
  • Trauma-Informed and Strength-Based Approaches: Experience with trauma-informed and strength-based approaches is strongly preferred.
  • Local Social Service Provider Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge and experience with local social service providers is preferred.
  • Language Skills: Bilingual (English-Spanish) skills are strongly preferred.
