Position Overview:

The Billing Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the billing team's activities, ensuring timely and precise invoice issuance that aligns with client deadlines and internal accounting timelines.

This role includes managing the workload by delegating client and partner billing assignments, ensuring sufficient coverage for vacations and leaves, and prioritizing special projects.

Moreover, the Billing Manager plays a crucial role in staff recruitment, training, and development initiatives, providing visible leadership in planning, prioritizing, and directing departmental activities.

Effective communication with partners and senior management is vital, requiring strong interpersonal skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Oversee daily operations of the billing team, ensuring balanced workloads and appropriate lawyer assignments.
2. Guarantee accurate preparation of client invoices and address billing discrepancies with partners.
3. Manage the resolution of rejected invoices, unallocated balances, and bill packet preparations.
4. Comprehend complex billing arrangements, Outside Counsel Guidelines (OCGs), and electronic billing challenges.
5. Provide training to billing personnel on various billing functions and client agreements.
6. Mentor and develop billing staff, including conducting annual performance evaluations.
7. Collaborate with other departments within the revenue cycle to reduce delays in the billing and collection process.
8. Identify and implement process enhancements to streamline billing operations.
9. Develop, test, and implement new billing procedures to improve accuracy and efficiency.
10. Monitor compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
11. Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience with substantial operational and supervisory responsibilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with senior management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Experience in a law firm or professional services environment.
- Familiarity with eBilling Hub, electronic billing vendor platforms, and Elite 3E.
