As the owner of the APP Tour, Intersport has been at the forefront of organizing professional and amateur tournaments since its inception.

With a robust schedule of events, including Signature and International Series, we are dedicated to fostering the next generation of athletes through various youth initiatives.

The Position

The Finance and Accounting team at Intersport is in search of a Senior Manager, Accounting to oversee the daily accounting operations of the organization.

This role requires the candidate to be located in the Chicagoland area and to collaborate closely with the Finance and Accounting team, reporting directly to the President.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong leadership background and a passion for working in a dynamic, start-up environment where initiative and creativity are highly valued.

We seek an energetic self-starter who can effectively engage with various stakeholders, including team members, external partners, and investors, while providing daily management and support to a small team.

The Senior Manager will play a crucial role in identifying, proposing, and implementing systems and processes that enhance the accounting function.

The perfect candidate will have a minimum of six years of relevant experience, ideally with prior management of accounting staff, and a track record of producing financial reports while engaging with the investment community.

Responsibilities

Leadership
  • Foster and exemplify Intersport's performance-driven culture as the leader of the company's financial operations.
Oversight and Accountability
  • Supervise junior team members in accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, and financial closing processes.
  • Collaborate closely with the President to manage essential financial operations related to internal controls.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial reporting requirements for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with external accountants to streamline financial processes.
  • Evaluate current accounting practices, providing recommendations for enhancements and implementing new procedures.
  • Maintain a professional and service-oriented approach when working with a diverse range of internal colleagues and stakeholders.
Team Management
  • Lead, train, and mentor junior team members, setting goals and providing constructive feedback.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting is required; CPA designation is a plus.
  • Experience in a start-up environment or professional services sector is preferred.
  • At least six years of experience in financial planning and analysis.
  • Proven experience in generating financial reports and interacting with investors.
  • Strong technical accounting expertise with a comprehensive understanding of US GAAP.
  • Excellent proficiency in Excel is essential.
  • Familiarity with accounting systems; experience with ERP systems is advantageous.
  • Innovative mindset with a focus on process improvement.
  • Professional demeanor, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to handle confidential information.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Interest in commercial sports and lifestyle offerings is a plus.
