This position will focus on the Manhattan, NY market.

I. Job Objective

The Sales Support Associate serves as an introductory sales role within KARL STORZ Endoscopy-America, Inc. (KSEA). Reporting to the Regional Sales Associate Manager, this role collaborates closely with the local sales team, which includes 1-4 Sales Executives. The Sales Support Associate is tasked with following directives from the Regional Sales Associate Manager and/or the local sales team regarding daily responsibilities and priorities. This role encompasses sales and related activities, including strategizing and executing the marketing and promotion of all KARL STORZ products within the designated market. The Sales Support Associate will provide equal assistance to all KSEA Business Units that have a Sales Executive in the assigned territory.

This prominent and effective entry-level program is designed to prepare candidates for future Sales Executive roles and is expected to involve over 70% of time spent at client locations. Compensation includes a competitive salary along with a bonus structure based on the achievement of designated sales objectives. Following the training period, the expectation is for the candidate to operate independently while collaborating on assignments and sales targets as set by the Regional Sales Associate Manager and assigned Sales Executives. Candidates must reside in Manhattan, NY or nearby areas.

II. Key Responsibilities

Sales Activities (70% of time)

  • Assist in meeting annual sales targets within the assigned territory by:
    • Conducting product demonstrations and evaluations for customers.
    • Effectively showcasing and differentiating KARL STORZ product features, advantages, and procedural applications in line with product specifications.
    • Building and maintaining compliant, strong relationships with healthcare professionals, including nurses, physicians, and administrative staff in each assigned account.
    • Providing sales quotations and service agreements to clients.
  • Support promotional initiatives launched by the company.
  • Develop and execute compliant sales strategies to acquire new business.
  • Continuously enhance knowledge of KARL STORZ products and procedures, aiming to increase sales to customers, including hospitals and outpatient surgical centers.

Additional Responsibilities (30% of time)

  • Train and inform customer personnel to ensure satisfaction and long-term reliability of all KARL STORZ products acquired under contract or KSEA procedures, including care and handling education.
  • Educate clients on the proper use of KARL STORZ products at their facilities in accordance with usage instructions, and provide guidance on decontamination, inspection, assembly, and sterilization of reusable instruments as appropriate.
  • Assist with customer management by providing updates on product and order status, pricing changes, and addressing customer inquiries.
  • Facilitate the return of KARL STORZ products and service/repair items as needed.
  • Manage and return assigned KARL STORZ demonstration and evaluation products.

III. Role Expectations

  • Maintain accurate records, including customer documentation, submit timely reports, and complete all required training and assessments within specified timelines.
  • Prepare and submit special reports related to territory operations as needed.
  • Participate in sales meetings, training sessions, and conventions as directed.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Perform other duties consistent with the general nature and focus of the role and/or departmental goals as assigned.
  • Cooperate with internal and external audits, inquiries, and reviews as requested.

IV. Essential Skills

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift equipment weighing up to 35 lbs. Employees may request assistance when moving or handling equipment.

Mental and Emotional Demands: Ability to adapt and demonstrate flexibility in response to changing priorities and work situations.

Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication, negotiation, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse individuals both internally and externally.

Travel: Requires daily travel to various customer accounts. A valid driver's license in the state of operation or residence is mandatory. Up to 10% travel outside the assigned region may be required throughout the year.

V. Minimum Knowledge, Education, and Skill Requirements

Required

Minimum years of relevant work experience: 2-4 years of relevant experience, preferably in sales.

Minimum education, certifications, and/or credentials: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.

Minimum hard skill requirements (including computer and application proficiency):

  • Proficiency with technology and/or medical products.

Minimum soft skill requirements:

  • Proven track record of exceeding performance expectations.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to remain calm, think critically, and act responsibly in high-pressure situations.
  • Strong focus on customer experience, urgency, and empathy towards clients.
  • Willingness to relocate for career advancement.
