I. Purpose of the Role
The Sales Representative serves as an introductory sales role within KARL STORZ Endoscopy-America, Inc. ("KSEA").
This position is under the guidance of the Region Sales Associate Manager and collaborates closely with the local sales team.
The individual will follow directives from the Region Sales Associate Manager and/or the local sales team regarding daily tasks and priorities.
The Sales Representative is tasked with sales and related functions, including strategizing and coordinating the marketing and promotion of all KARL STORZ products within their designated market.
This role will equally support all KSEA Business Units that have a Sales Executive in the assigned territory.
This prominent and effective entry point into our Sales Executive position will cater to the Manhattan area and is anticipated to spend over 70% of their time engaging with customers.
Post-training, the expectation is for this role to operate independently while collaborating on assignments and sales targets as outlined by the Region Sales Associate Manager and assigned Sales Executives.
Candidates must reside in Manhattan, NY or nearby areas.II. Key Responsibilities
Sales Activities – 70% of the Role
Contribute to meeting annual sales targets assigned to their territory by:
- Conducting product demonstrations and evaluations for customers.
- Effectively showcasing and differentiating KARL STORZ product features, advantages, and procedural applications in line with product guidelines.
- Establishing and maintaining compliant and robust working relationships with healthcare professionals, including nurses, physicians, and administrative staff in each assigned account.
Support promotional initiatives led by the company.
Develop and execute compliant sales strategies to secure new business.
- Continuously enhance knowledge of KARL STORZ products and procedures, striving to increase sales to customers, including hospitals and surgical centers.
Other Responsibilities – 30% of the Role
- Train and inform customer personnel to ensure satisfaction and long-term reliability of all KARL STORZ products purchased under contract or KSEA procedures, including care and handling education.
- Educate customers on the proper use of KARL STORZ products at their facilities in accordance with Instructions for Use, and instruct end users on decontamination, inspection, assembly, and sterilization of reusable instruments as appropriate.
- Assist with customer management, including providing updates on product and order status, pricing adjustments, and resolving customer issues.
Manage and return assigned KARL STORZ demonstration and evaluation products.
Additional Role Expectations
- Maintain accurate records, including customer information, submit timely reports, and complete all required training and assessments within set timelines.
- Attend and engage in sales meetings, training sessions, and conventions as directed.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Additional duties consistent with the general nature and focus of the role and/or departmental goals may be assigned.
III. Essential Skills
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift equipment weighing up to 35 lbs.
Employees may request assistance whenever necessary to move or handle equipment.
Mental and Emotional Requirements:
Ability to adapt and demonstrate flexibility in response to changing priorities and work situations.
Interpersonal and Communication Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication, negotiation, and collaboration skills with various individuals, both internally and externally.
Travel Requirements:
Daily travel to geographically dispersed customer accounts is required.
A valid driver's license in the state of operation or residence is necessary.
Up to 10% travel outside the assigned region may occur throughout the year.IV. Minimum Knowledge, Education, and Skill Requirements
Required:
- Minimum years of relevant work experience: 2 – 4 years in a sales capacity.
Minimum education and credentials:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
Minimum hard skill requirements:
Proficiency with technology and/or medical products.
Minimum soft skill requirements:
Proven track record of exceeding targets.
Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
Ability to remain calm, think quickly, and act responsibly in high-pressure situations.
Strong focus on customer experience, urgency, and empathy towards clients.
Willingness to relocate for career advancement.
