Position Overview
Under general oversight, this role entails delivering prompt and courteous law enforcement services aimed at safeguarding individuals and property through the application of laws and regulations. Responsibilities typically encompass routine patrols, interventions, assistance, investigations, and traffic management duties.

**We are currently seeking TCOLE certified officers.**

***Compensation includes a 9-step pay scale with a maximum hourly rate of $39.55, totaling an annual salary of $82,264.00.***

The City of Corinth Police Department provides substantial support to its officers. Our community is notably supportive of law enforcement, and the low crime rate allows for meaningful community policing interactions. Each officer is equipped with approximately $10,000 worth of personal gear, including firearms and protective equipment. Our patrol vehicles are among the best equipped in Texas, ensuring maximum safety for our officers. We also offer a take-home vehicle program (with certain restrictions). Our benefits package is generous, including longevity pay. Specialized roles are available, such as school resource officer, K-9 handler, motorcycle officer, and investigator, with options for bicycle patrol as a secondary assignment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintains community peace through mediation, investigation, intervention, assistance, documentation, and arrest; employs lawful methods to enhance quality of life by minimizing crime and addressing public safety needs.
  • Conducts patrols to respond to community requests, enforce traffic laws, detect criminal activity, apprehend offenders, and ensure public safety.
  • Secures assigned areas, observing for unusual or suspicious behavior; responds to both emergency and non-emergency service calls; communicates with victims, witnesses, and suspects.
  • Enforces local, state, and federal laws, ensuring compliance with regulations according to departmental policies.
  • Investigates incidents and accidents; secures and processes scenes, collecting evidence as permitted.
  • Apprehends violators; transports and processes suspects and victims.
  • Completes comprehensive reports and necessary documentation.
  • Maintains vehicles and equipment in accordance with departmental standards.
  • Represents the department at court proceedings; prepares reports and provides testimony.
  • Collaborates with other emergency service personnel and law enforcement agencies.
  • Delivers educational programs for community awareness; informs residents about law enforcement activities and resources.
  • Engages in specialized functions based on expertise, including training, K-9 operations, event security, and investigative teams.
  • Upholds the integrity and values of the department by adhering to all regulations and maintaining public trust.
  • Works cooperatively with colleagues to achieve departmental goals.
  • Maintains regular attendance, as it is crucial for continued employment.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Age: Must be at least 21 years old at the time of the written examination.
Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen.
Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.
Certification: Must be currently certified by TCOLE or hold a peace officer certification from another state with the ability to pass the TCOLE exam.
Driver's License: Must possess a valid driver's license prior to employment (Texas Class C license required within 30 days of hire).
Mental Condition: Must pass a board interview, polygraph, and psychological evaluation.
Physical Condition: Must pass a medical examination and drug screening.
Vision: Must have 20/20 vision, corrected or uncorrected, and be free from color blindness and other visual impairments.
Hearing: Must pass a hearing assessment.
Criminal Record: No convictions for offenses above Class C Misdemeanor.
