Description
The Law Enforcement Officer is responsible for executing law enforcement duties to safeguard the lives, property, and rights of the community. This role encompasses various law enforcement or correctional responsibilities within a designated area. Responsibilities may include serving legal documents, responding to emergency calls, and patrolling the region in an official vehicle to prevent crime or apprehend offenders. The officer will also execute warrants and carry out arrests, as well as perform necessary procedures related to the transportation of detainees for the Sheriff's Department. Specific tasks may differ based on assigned areas. The officer is exposed to the inherent risks associated with law enforcement activities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Upholds all state and applicable federal laws.
2. Provides law enforcement services to the public and addresses service requests.
3. Completes documentation and reports promptly.
4. Maintains regular and punctual attendance.
5. Investigates and seeks to locate individuals with outstanding warrants; executes warrants and documents evidence; performs arrests and prepares arrest reports.
6. Coordinates with other law enforcement agencies when individuals are believed to be within their jurisdiction and makes apprehension requests; executes apprehensions in the county as requested by other agencies.
7. Conducts various extradition procedures as necessary.
8. Performs additional related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
1. High School diploma or GED.
2. If assigned to Community Relations, a minimum of one year of experience in a related field is required.
3. Possession of a valid driver's license; must obtain a State of Texas driver's license within 90 days.
4. Must be a U.S. citizen.
CERTIFICATION AS A PEACE OFFICER IN THE STATE OF TEXAS IS REQUIRED.
