Key Responsibilities- Patrol university property on foot, bicycle, or by automobile to prevent and respond to crimes.
- Enforce local, state, and federal laws, using force and/or weapons when necessary.
- Apprehend and/or arrest suspects in violation of laws.
- Investigate traffic accidents, thefts, burglaries, vandalism, assaults, and other offenses that occur on university property.
- Secure crime scenes for investigation.
- Lock and unlock university buildings, activating or deactivating alarms as required.
- Assist students, staff, and visitors with questions about university rules and the location of buildings.
- Receive and transmit information using a two-way radio.
- Transport individuals in emergency situations.
- Prepare required department reports accurately and completely.
- Respond to emergency call-outs.
- Perform the duties of a dispatcher as necessary.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must have a minimum of 12 college hours from an accredited university or college.
- Must have a Basic Police Officer License as prescribed by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement.
- Valid driver's license issued by the State of Texas and a safe driving record.
The Police Officer will work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to inclement weather and unpredictable crisis situations. The employee must be able to work any hours on any day and may be required to travel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
