The Denton County (TX) is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Detention Officer I to join our team. As a key member of our law enforcement department, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of inmates in our County Jail.
Key Responsibilities- Admit and book inmates, ensuring their constitutional rights and welfare are safeguarded
- Supervise inmate trustees and ensure the security of the jail
- Perform commissary duties, receive and maintain inventory of inmate property and supplies
- Monitor cameras and emergency systems, perform life and fire safety activities
- Prepare and transport inmates to and from court, visitations, or medical appointments
- Assist visitors, inspect items brought to the jail for inmates
- Receive, secure, log, and receipt inmates' property, properly storing and returning items upon release
- Sort and deliver mail to designated areas within the jail
- Perform other related work as required
- Must be 18 years of age
- High School diploma or GED required
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Must attain certification by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement as a Jailer within one (1) year of employment
- Possession of a valid Driver's License
Employee is subject to the usual hazards of jail work.
