Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Office Assistant 2 to join our team in the Office of the New York State Comptroller. As an Office Assistant 2, you will be responsible for performing a variety of administrative tasks, including document sorting, preparation, and scanning, as well as maintaining production reports and performing miscellaneous tasks as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sort mail accurately by document classification
  • Prepare paper folder/singletons contents for scanning
  • Scan documents
  • Maintain a high level of expertise and sophistication in identifying over 390 documents and their indices
  • Perform complicated records maintenance activities
  • Ensure all paper documents/records are accounted for when reviewing images
  • Maintain production reports
  • Perform miscellaneous tasks as needed
Requirements
  • One year of clerical experience
  • Ability to use office equipment, such as computers, scanners, and photocopiers
  • Ability to enter and retrieve data using an alphanumeric keyboard
  • Ability to prepare reports
  • Ability to read, understand, and apply laws, procedures, rules, regulations, and guidelines
  • Ability to perform tasks accurately within prescribed time frames
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally
Work Environment

The Office of the New York State Comptroller supports telecommuting where it is reasonable to do so based on the agency's mission and operational needs. Employees new to the agency will be restricted from telecommuting for at least 8 calendar weeks. After the initial 8 calendar week restriction, employees may be allowed to telecommute up to 5 days per pay period, subject to operational needs.
