Location – Remote (Candidates from the Southwest and Pacific Coast are encouraged to apply)

Travel – YES; Up to 75% (All travel expenses covered, per diem provided); Remote work available when not traveling

QUALIFICATIONS

A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline such as safety, environmental science, quality assurance, healthcare, or engineering, or an equivalent combination of 8+ years of experience in operational safety, hazardous materials management, or occupational health.

  • Minimum of 5 years of practical experience in safety program oversight or direct involvement with hazardous materials or waste management, ideally in a remediation or emergency response context.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying informed about advancements in health and safety regulations.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License and a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the creation, execution, and upkeep of Health & Safety programs and procedures.
  • Facilitate safety training and awareness initiatives to foster a safety-oriented culture among employees.
  • Conduct safety audits and inspections; provide recommendations for corrective actions as necessary.
  • Investigate workplace accidents and incidents, analyze root causes, and propose preventive strategies to avert future occurrences.
  • Perform regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards, ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other relevant federal/state regulations while managing hazardous materials safely.
  • Work collaboratively with management and staff to cultivate a safety-conscious environment.
  • Assist in the development and enhancement of safety management systems and learning management systems as required by clients.
  • Coordinate with emergency response teams and clients to ensure best management practices are followed.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement strategies to minimize identified risks.
  • Oversee the use of personal protective equipment and ensure compliance.
  • Draft, review, and approve Health and Safety Plans (HASP) and Site-Specific Safety Plans (SSSP) for various projects.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current safety regulations, industry best practices, and state-specific compliance requirements.
  • Prepare and deliver safety reports to management and staff.
