QUALIFICATIONS

A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline such as safety, environmental science, quality assurance, healthcare, or engineering, or a qualifying substitution of 8+ years' experience in operational safety, hazardous materials management, or occupational health.

  • Minimum of 5 years of practical experience in safety program oversight or direct involvement with hazardous materials or waste management, ideally in a remediation or emergency response context.
  • Commitment to maintaining certifications through ongoing education and staying informed about developments in the health and safety sector.
  • A valid Driver's License and a clean Motor Vehicle Report are required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the creation, execution, and upkeep of Health & Safety initiatives and protocols.
  • Facilitate safety training and awareness sessions for personnel to foster a culture of safety and compliance.
  • Conduct safety audits and inspections; suggest corrective measures as necessary.
  • Investigate incidents and accidents, analyzing root causes, and propose preventative strategies to avert future occurrences.
  • Regularly perform safety audits and inspections to detect hazards, ensuring adherence to OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other federal/state regulations while promoting safe management of hazardous materials.
  • Collaborate with management and staff to cultivate a safety-oriented culture.
  • Assist in the development and enhancement of safety management systems and learning management systems, as required by clients.
  • Coordinate with emergency response teams and clients to ensure best management practices.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement strategies to mitigate identified risks.
  • Oversee and enforce the proper use of personal protective equipment.
  • Draft, review, and approve Health and Safety Plans and Site-Specific Safety Plans for various projects or operations.
  • Stay updated on current safety regulations, industry best practices, and a variety of state-specific rules.
  • Prepare and deliver safety reports to management and employees.
