Position Overview:

The Walsh Group is actively seeking a Health, Safety, and Environmental Manager to join our Water Division. This role is pivotal in ensuring the safety and compliance of our projects.

The HSE Manager will play a crucial role in conducting inspections, managing accident investigations, facilitating safety meetings, and overseeing the implementation of health, safety, and environmental (EHS) protocols. This position is responsible for maintaining essential records, logs, and reports related to safety, in accordance with contractor, client, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Project Manager and management team to develop and execute a site-specific EHS plan, ensuring alignment with corporate and regional EHS standards.
  • Assist in coordinating EHS protocols for subcontractors and vendors involved in company projects, focusing on hazard elimination and risk management.
  • Conduct quarterly comprehensive EHS audits and regularly inspect project sites for compliance with applicable regulations and company policies.
  • Lead accident investigations and prepare incident reports for management review.
  • Accompany injured personnel to medical evaluations, ensuring adherence to EHS protocols.
  • Provide guidance on Industrial Hygiene protocols and perform Environmental Monitoring.
  • Oversee the Company’s Drug-Free Workplace Policy, managing testing protocols for various employment scenarios.
  • Deliver training and education on EHS requirements, including new hire orientation programs.
  • Administer the corporate SPAT process on assigned projects.
  • Prepare and present weekly EHS updates to leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
  • CHST (Construction Health & Safety Technician) Certification is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the construction EHS sector.
  • Strong communication skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities, with effective time management.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and hazard recognition.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Physical capability to stand, sit, walk, and climb as required.
