Position Overview:

Under the guidance of the Vice President of Philanthropy, the Senior Philanthropy Executive is tasked with the development, organization, and management of all fundraising strategies and initiatives within the Novant Health Foundation's designated market. Each executive will strive to meet an annual fundraising target set by the Foundation's President in collaboration with the business operations team. The executive will oversee their own portfolio management, ensuring revenue goals are achieved. This role includes leading a team of professionals who also manage portfolios, employing best practices in moves management related to fundraising and revenue objectives. Cultivating and managing relationships with the Board is a crucial aspect of this position.

The Senior Philanthropy Executive is responsible for creating and executing a comprehensive fundraising strategy for their market. This includes collaborating with the hospital president to remain aligned with priorities, developing initiatives for support, philanthropy strategies, execution plans, portfolio segmentation, engagement events, and planned giving efforts related to revenue generation. The executive is dedicated to fostering an environment that transforms giving from transactional to transformational. They will also ensure ongoing stewardship of donors and maintain institutional accountability for all contributions. The executive will identify, cultivate, and solicit major donors for contributions of $25,000 and above while leading a dynamic and motivated fundraising team. They will drive strategic alignment between the Novant Health Foundation's priorities and the needs of the community.

Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree required in Business, Psychology, Communications, or a related field. Graduate Degree (MBA or MHA) preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 7 years in fundraising, including Capital Campaign and Major Gift Solicitation or related experience. Experience in managing a team and collaborating with a Board of Directors is required. 5 years of fundraising experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
Licensure/Certification: Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) preferred.

Essential Functions:

  • Leadership: Collaborates with the Philanthropy team to design and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies, soliciting contributions for the Novant Health Foundation's market from diverse sources, including individuals, foundations, and corporations. Identifies giving opportunities within the market, addressing both capital and programmatic needs. Leads major fundraising initiatives, including capital campaigns, and develops the team member giving program.

  • Business Acumen: Develops programs to educate donors on healthcare philanthropy and its impact on Novant Health's objectives. Represents the Novant Health Foundations throughout the community and beyond.

  • Customer Service: Manages relationships with current and prospective major gift donors, facilitating meetings with Novant Health physicians and leadership, and developing case statements that align donor interests with organizational priorities.

  • Financial: Develops fundraising event strategies and oversees execution, analyzing return on investment for events and managing the budget.
