POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Library Acquisitions Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the Acquisitions, Serials, and Cataloging Departments at Delta College Library. Strong clerical, organizational, time management, and technological skills are essential.

This role involves managing orders for all library materials and supplies, generating purchase orders and invoices, tracking budget-related data, and liaising with vendors.

The maintenance of serials includes overseeing all aspects of periodical management.

The Acquisitions Coordinator assists librarians in processing books for cataloging and withdrawing items from the collection, while also maintaining statistics and collaborating with various library and college personnel.

This position also supports the Laptop Lending Program, serves as a backup for the Circulation area, and provides assistance to the Library Manager and librarians as required.

Proficiency in technology is necessary, as various software and databases are utilized daily.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

ACQUISITIONS
Manage all orders, requisitions, and invoices for library materials.
Oversee the book budget.
Reconcile vendor statements.
Prepare a variety of reports for management.

SERIALS
Process all serials orders.
Maintain an up-to-date list of local serials holdings for staff and patrons.

CATALOGING
Assist with cataloging tasks including processing books, discarding items, and book repairs.
Maintain statistics and prepare reports.
Assist with the processing and withdrawal of government documents.

TEAM RESPONSIBILITIES
Compile statistics and reports for the Library Manager and Librarians; ensure area procedure manuals are current.
Take responsibility for opening the Library.
Participate in college and library staff meetings as well as VLC Database meetings.
Stay updated on library technologies.
CIRCULATION/LAPTOP PROGRAM
Support the Circulation desk by checking out items and assisting patrons as needed.
Assist with Interlibrary Loan and supervise student workers.
Support librarians with the Laptop Lending Program.

Required Qualifications:
Associate degree or equivalent knowledge/skills.
Ability to efficiently multi-task and solve problems independently.
Effective oral and written communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
1 – 3 years of relevant experience.
