Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Specialist Supervisor to administer research programs and studies at Emory University. The successful candidate will have a strong background in research and experience in supervising research personnel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise staff by orienting, training, and providing performance feedback.
  • Provide expertise and training in methodology, basic laboratory procedures, and equipment operation.
  • Prepare and monitor research-related budgets.
  • Assist in developing and submitting grant proposals and monitoring grant expenditures.
  • Advise principal investigators of changes in reporting or accounting requirements and assist researchers in meeting requirements.
  • Develop models for patents, licensing, and manufacturing agreements with researchers.
  • Monitor and enforce contracts and monetary returns for products developed through research.
  • Perform a wide range of laboratory tests, specimen preparation, and experimental procedures for routine and specialized studies.
  • Select or develop effective research methodologies.
  • Collect and analyze results of studies and provide interpretation of results.
  • Co-author or author publications based on laboratory research and findings.
  • Recommend new equipment and supply purchases; investigate equipment malfunctions and schedule maintenance/repair.
  • Monitor quality control of media, reagents, and cleaning procedures and address any problems.
  • Keep abreast of safety procedures and monitor the handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous substances.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related science field and four years of research experience, including one year in a supervisory role in a laboratory.
  • Equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
