Job Summary

The Sponsored Research Consultant will serve as the primary advisor on sponsored research program administration, ensuring compliance with financial policies. Responsibilities include managing budgets, accounting, reporting, and grant administration while providing leadership and performance assessments for staff.

Key Responsibilities

1. Pre-Award Management:
Oversee proposal development, budget preparation, and submission processes, ensuring compliance with institutional guidelines.

2. Post-Award Oversight:
Act as a liaison for faculty, monitoring expenditures and compliance while generating necessary reports.

3. Financial Operations:
Manage accounting functions related to sponsored research, including budget updates and financial forecasting.

4. Advisory Role:
Provide guidance on sponsored research plans and proposals to enhance operational efficiency.

5. Staff Management:
Direct activities of grants administration staff, ensuring effective support for sponsored research.

6. Collaboration:
Engage with the Office of Sponsored Programs and Grants & Contracts Accounting to address issues related to grants and contracts.

7. Additional Duties:
Perform other responsibilities as assigned to support the department's objectives.

Qualifications

Educational Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Experience:
Three to five years of relevant experience in sponsored research administration.

Preferred Qualifications

Certifications such as Certified Research Administrator or supervisory experience are advantageous.

Skills and Abilities

Professional knowledge of financial principles in a research context, along with proficiency in proposal development and regulatory compliance, is essential. Strong planning, attention to detail, problem-solving, and communication skills are required.
